San Clemente, San Diego & the Queen Mary

Upon our arrival at San Clemente we found ourselves smack in the middle of what the weatherman referred to as the Pineapple Express. Or what most of us would call one hellofa rain storm!!

Although we had made ready to survive the traffic, smog and English as a second language, we really had not thought much about having to endure a flood, mud slides and over 5 inches of rain in the course of the first two days!!

In reality we would not have even considered coming to Commiefornia if it were not for the fact that Baby Girl (Shawn) had followed her heart and moved there a few months earlier.

Our camp for this sojourn was on the beach at San Clemente State Park which we found to be a beautiful spot once the deluge subsided and we were actually able to see the ocean and the surrounding countryside.

Our travels with Shawn took us from the Queen Mary in Long Beach to Old Town San Diego. For side trips we took the bike up the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) to Newport Beach and explored the small ocean side villages along the way.
