New Orleans & the Mississippi Delta

Our trek east was to take us within spitting distance of New Orleans. We were to discover that Louisiana although having a place in history, is in many ways like entering a third world country.

New Orleans in particular is not someplace where it is wise to wander aimlessly around before OR after dark. Suffice it to say, we were not duly impressed by New Orleans to return, but the experience was unique and we would recommend it to others but only under caution.

On the other hand there are many historic places to see and visit in the Mississippi river delta. Ranging from Chalmette Battlefield National Park and the war of 1812 to Fort Jackson and the Civil War era.

Oh by the way, did we mention SWAMPS, ALLIGATORS & SNAKES???
