Tombstone, The Town Too Tough To Die

Tombstone is a town that was supposed to fail. The problem is, it never did.

The history that surrounds this town thanks to the Chamber of Commerce and the media revolves around none other than the famous

Shootout at the O.K. Corral.
The truth of the matter is that infamous day was nothing more than a footnote at the time for this small mining community turned tourist attraction.

Nowadays motorized travel as back in the 19th century is restricted to horse drawn vehicles on the main drag of this western town. While cowboys roam and saloon girls hail to passersby to step inside the local watering holes and enjoy a taste of days gone by.

What a great place to spend a few days and enjoy the area while actually learning something about the history beyond what the Chamber of Commerce has made famous.

Our arrival on Saturday January 29th finally found us having to stay in our first real live RV park. We would have loved to boondock around here but there were several problems. One of them being that the terrain is so rough that finding a spot for a 5th wheel would be more than a challenge. The other problem being that a lot of people really do walk through here. People like the Mexicans sneaking through the air tight southern border of our country.

Consequently we found ourselves at the Stampede RV Park, which is in easy walking distance of downtown. Compared to the other RV Parks in Tombstone, Stampede RV Park offers the best of not only location but accomodations as well. If you are in the area we highly recommend this RV park. When you check in Tom takes you on a virtual tour of Tombstone, handing out literature to all the attractions as well as explaining each one.
